The 2024 Escape offers impressively efficient hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains, both of which use regenerative braking to store energy captured from braking for later use. The hybrid powertrain can be equipped on all models except the Active™ trim — which comes with the 1.5L EcoBoost I3 engine — and the Plug-in Hybrid trim. The latter comes standard with a plug-in hybrid powertrain as well as a Level 1 mobile power cord, which is compatible with any standard 120-volt outlet.
Front-wheel drive comes standard on Active, ST-Line, and Platinum models, with the option for intelligent all-wheel drive (AWD) capabilities for increased traction and control. Intelligent AWD is standard on ST-Line Select and ST-Line Elite trims, and the Plug-in Hybrid model can only be equipped with FWD.
